Research: I am working to identify and characterize essential genes for Enterococcus faecalis biofilm formation on catheters in artificial urine media. I am achieving this through
transposon sequencing, targeted mutant screening, and biofilm assays to characterize
phenotypes of specific mutants. Through this work, I hope to provide a better
understanding of how E. faecalis colonizes and persists in the catheterized urinary tract during catheter associated UTIs and acts as a pioneer species for other pathogens.
