Research: I will be studying aortic intima resident macrophages (Mac-AIR) in the context of atherosclerotic progression. This project will determine mechanisms of cross-talk between Mac-AIR and aorta endothelial cells follow early onset atherosclerosis. In my first year, I learned various techniques that will be applied to this project; including flow cytometry, staining aortic sections, confocal microscopy, and mouse handling.
